So, who would you be sitting with

About Me

I'm a Counselling Psychotherapist and have been practising for fourteen years. I've always been interested in people — what shapes us, how we come to understand ourselves, and what happens between us in our relationships with other people.

My own life experiences have played an important part in bringing me to this work. They have given me a personal understanding of what it can mean to struggle, to lose your way, and to look honestly at yourself and the ways you have learnt to live.

As a gay man, I also have some personal understanding of questions around identity, sexuality and belonging. I work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences; what matters to me is getting to know the person sitting in front of me.

How I work

For me, psychotherapy is about relationship. What happens between us can sometimes help us understand something of what happens for you elsewhere — how you allow yourself to be known, what you expect from others, what you hold back, or what you have learnt to expect from yourself.

I don't see my role as telling you who you are or fitting you into an explanation. We can become curious together about what is happening, without rushing to find an answer or assuming that everything needs to be fixed.

There may be sadness, anger, shame, fear or confusion. There may also be humour and laughter. Psychotherapy is not something I do to you; it is something we do together.
