When the relationship between you has become difficult.
Perhaps you keep having the same arguments, or perhaps you've stopped talking altogether. There may be anger, hurt or distance between you, or something may have happened that has shaken your trust in one another.
Sometimes there is no single event. The closeness you once shared may simply have changed, leaving you wondering how you got here and whether you can find a way forward.
The relationship belongs to both of you
I don't see couples psychotherapy as deciding who is right or wrong. You are both the relationship. My role is to help you slow things down, notice what is happening between you and give each of you the opportunity to be heard.
The way you speak, listen, reach for one another or pull away can tell us something important. Often couples become caught in patterns that neither person consciously chose. Bringing those patterns into view can make something different possible.
You don't have to know the outcome
You may both want to remain together, you may be unsure, or one of you may feel differently from the other. You don't need to have the answer before you come.
The purpose is not to force an outcome, but to understand more clearly what is happening between you and what each of you needs. Sometimes that means finding a way back to one another; sometimes it means facing the possibility of separation with greater honesty, clarity and respect.
